Rich Klopfer was born in Los Angeles in 1953 and moved to Eugene Oregon in 1981. The son of painter Don Klopfer, Rich has been influenced by the work of his father as well as the Fauves and German Expressionists of the early 20th century.
Since the mid 1980's Klopfer shared studio space and showed exclusively until June 2002 with famed human rights activist and painter Trim Bissell. Bissell influenced the subject matter of Klopfer with scenes from Guatamala and field workers in the Willamete Valley. Both shared a similar style and interest in the Fauvist palette. Bissell passed away from brain cancer in June of 2002 and Klopfer continues to paint and share great memories of a dear friend.
Rich Klopfer and his wife Cynthia currently reside in Eugene Oregon.
