We are pleased to welcome Whidbey Island artist Mark Skullerud for his first exhibit with us in our Bellevue gallery. While Skullerud is a new acquaintance, our ties go back many years with his association in the Dharmic Engineers, a group of Northwest painters exploring Eastern and Western philosophy of which two of our artists were also members. Ray Pelley and Milo Duke have a long history of painting with Skullerud dating back to the 1980's. Skullerud's impressionist landscapes are loosely based on real things in real locations in the Puget Sound area. They are emotional portraits of a time of day, a weather pattern, or a season that have a familiar feel of the region. He wants viewers to know the beauty that's visible every day, and to recognize the fleeting and subtle light that is gives the region its character and identity.
